The historic 2019 cricket World Cup final has entertained the world with a super over. The finalists England and New Zealand have struggled equally to kiss the Trophy however England claimed victory over the Black Caps.

The more boundaries rule of International Cricket Council (ICC) depending on which England won the Cup has upset the cricket fans on Twitter. The Final match between the teams has been quite controversial for which the fans have condemned the rule of more boundaries.

Many fans expressed it is heartbreaking to see The Black Cap’s defeat. The most adored captain and Man of the 2019 World Cup tournament Kane Williams has been internet sensation after the final for his stoic nature and brilliant captaincy for the Black Caps.

Facing the defeat Kane Williamson expressed, “Yeah, I think the thing you walk away with is the amount of heart and the amount of fight the guys have shown throughout this whole campaign, but probably none more than the match we have just witnessed and both sides showed that today and it did come down to… I don’t know how they won it… what was it, boundaries or something?”

However, he consoles himself by saying, “Someone had to walk away with the title and we are gutted that it is not us, but England had a very good campaign and they deserve the victory.”

It was indeed a devastating moment for all members of Black Caps and their fans worldwide. New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham expressed his sorrow on Twitter. He wrote, “That hurts. Hopefully there’s a day or two over the next decade where I don’t think about that last half hour. Congratulations @ECB_cricket , well deserved.”

One in the series of tweets Neesham thanked the fans, “Thank you to all the supporters that came out today. We could hear you the whole way. Sorry we couldn’t deliver what you so badly wanted.”

However, the most responded tweet which has crossed 64000 likes and 11000 retweets have impacted a lot of cricket fans. The tweet reads, “Kids, don’t take up sport. Take up baking or something. Die at 60 really fat and happy.”

The cricket enthusiasts are questioning the ICC rule of maximum boundaries on Twitter for the rule immediately gained a wider controversial perspective which as they claim disrupts announcing the deserving champion.

Indian cricket legend, Sachin Tendulkar congratulates the winning team along with the appraisal for Kane. “#KaneWilliamson continues to impress. Loved the way he played & carried himself & his team right through the #CWC19,” Tendulkar wrote on Twitter.

“Some rules in cricket definitely needs a serious look in,” Rohit Sarma twitted.

Like many tweets that condemns the ICC rule, former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir also opined on the method of ICC, “Don’t understand how the game of such proportions, the #CWC19Final, is finally decided on who scored the most boundaries. A ridiculous rule @ICC. Should have been a tie. I want to congratulate both @BLACKCAPS & @englandcricket on playing out a nail biting Final. Both winners imo.”

Saurav Ganguly congratulates Williamson saying, “Kane Williamson..what an ambassador of the game.”

Former Australian cricketer, Brett Lee Twitted, “Congratulations to England! Commiserations New Zealand. I’ve got to say that it’s a horrible way to decide the winner. This rule has to change.”

“Determining the winner on boundaries was baffling enough, the umpires not knowing rules & officiating in a finals is a joke,” condemning the method former Indian Cricketer Mohammad Kaif opined. He also raised the defected overthrow in the game blaming the umpires. “That deflected overthrow was a 5 as Stokes hadn’t crossed d crease. For far too long they have got away with,’Umpires are only human’. This is unpardonable,” he added.

Sports Journalist Roha Nadeem mocked the ICC method mentioning American TV network HBO on Twitter.  “Hello @HBO. This is how you write a finale. #CWC19,” She wrote.

Her seer mocking the final game as a written script referring to HBO’s one of the most popular TV series Game of Throne of which season 8 finale has not well received by fans has added up more controversial opinion.

However, ICC has adored Williamson in the game. Along with his Man of the Tournament cup, he has won million hearts. The official Twitter handle of ICC Twitted, “Gracious, even in defeat #KaneWilliamson #CWC19.”

The world is with Kane and his team appreciating their efforts. Kane’s cheer attitude and stoic nature have been the reason for the million appraisals from all over the world.

 The final that was played at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. After winning the toss New Zealand opted for batting and scored 241/8 in the game. The home team, England too ended at the same score for which the game went into a ‘super over’. After the same result, England claimed their victory by maximum boundary score rule for which the Black Caps had to mourn.
