Norway’s top national movie award has nominated Indian actor Adil Hussain in the best actor category.
The Amanda nomination for Adil comes for his role in Iram Haq’s critically-acclaimed film What Will People Say.
A prolific actor who has wooed audiences time and again with his cinematic exploits in the world of global art, Mr Hussain is also a National Award winner.
Adil plays the role of a tough yet loving father in the Norwegian film, for which he has already won the Kanon Award at Kosmorama film festival, Norway’s equivalent of the Academy Awards.
The Oscar nominated director seeks to portray the clash of cultures through an immigrant Pakistani- Norwegian girl’s affair with a local lad in this coming of age drama, that has also partly been shot in India.
The film opened in the Toronto International Film Festival and has been subjected to rave reviews.
Adil is planning to attend the award ceremony which will be held on August 18 this year.
