Amitabh Bachchan on Thursday finally reacted to criticisms that he had faced in the aftermath of his alleged endorsement of Horlicks.
On May 31 last, Big B had tweeted his support for the brand’s Mission Poshan that is aimed at eliminating malnutrition in the country.
T 2823 –
I am taking the 1st step by joining the biggest movement to fight malnutrition @MissionPoshan, @Network18Group and @Horlicks_india to support India’s Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyaan @MissionPoshan @narendramodi @Manekagandhibjp @NITIAayog @amitabhk87@PoshanAbhiyaan. pic.twitter.com/pccGBO1CTj— Amitabh Bachchan (@SrBachchan) May 31, 2018
And though there weren’t any contracts or other legal bindings to substantiate any commercial association, reports arose in a section of the media linking the tweet to an endorsement.

Former Union Health Secretary Keshav Desiraju while questioning the advocacy of the ‘sugary drink’ wrote an open letter pointing out the high price tag of the beverage.
Citing the Pepsi episode in which the superstar had opted out of the endorsement owing to the drink’s detrimental health effect on children, Desiraju urged Mr Bachchan to do the same this time around as well.
But now in a statement released through a spokesperson, it has been clarified that mere support to a group does not necessarily imply association.

It has even been decided that Big B will withdraw all official support but will continue to extend assistance to Mission Poshan as a campaign to completely rule out the ill effects of malnutrition from the country.
