Indian Actor Manoj Bajpayee’s contribution to the world of cinema has been lauded at the London Indian Film Festival.
The prestigious Pure Heaven Icon award was conferred on the terrific actor in the festival, that also screened his latest film Love Sonia.
Film maker Mani Ratnam and Shekhar Kapur had also been bestowed the award earlier, and Bajpayee considers it a privilege to be lauded along the same lines of the cinematic greats.
The actor found it gratifying that his work was reaching out to the world audience and considers it humbling to have been recognised for his diverse plethora of works.
The actor’s another work Gali Guleiyan- In The Shadows also earned him praised after it was screened at the festival that concluded on Friday.
However, Bajpayee was not the only winner from Love Sonia. The film’s protagonist, debutante Mrunal Thakur also received the Best Newcomer Award for her poignant depiction of a trafficking victim in the film.
Richa Chaddha who also stars in the drama based on the widespread sex racket also took home the Outstanding Achievment Award.
Another outstanding film artist from India, ailing actor Irrfan Khan whose film Doob: No Bed of Roses and The Song of Scorpions also won the Icon award alongside Manoj Bajpayee.
Overall, it was a rich haul for Indian talents in the LIFF festival and as Riccha Chaddha puts it “Festivals like LIFF help us in making the right noise back home, so these films stand a chance against the mainstream expensive [movies].”
