Netflix fired its head of Public Relations on Friday.

The move by Netflix comes in the wake of the accused Jonathan Friedland’s alleged use of the ‘N- word’ in a meeting.

Company CEO Reed Hastings distributed ‘a lengthy internal’ memo which focused on Friedman’s usage of the prohibited term that showed unacceptably low racial awareness and sensitivity.

Hastings made Friedland’s firing public at approximately 12:45 p.m. PST, alerting employees about the situation and why the decision was made stressing on how painful and ugly that particular world is, The Hollywood Reporter announced.

Friedland, who had been with the company for seven years, took to Twitter to announce his emotions on the dismissal.

A somewhat cryptic tweet preceded the emotional reflection, which, however, was immediately deleted.

While reiterating that Jonathan has been a great contributor to Netflix as a platform, having built a diverse global team to help create awareness and strengthen the company’s reputation around the world, Reed also rued that the former PR’s lack of judgment in this area was too big for him to remain.
