Swiss tennis great Roger Federer just claimed the 99th ATP title in his sporting career.
This was the 37 year old legend’s ninth Swiss Indoors title in his hometown of Basel, which proved to be a highly emotional affair for Roger as well as for his wife Mirka Federer.
A 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 victory over Marius Copil ensured Federer won his first ATP title since June and will now be aiming to make it a century of crowns when he supposedly plays in the Paris Masters next week.
Roger Federer is now only behind Jimmy Connors, who with 109 ATP title is the all time leading title master. With Copil- the world number 93- Federer faced quite a tricky challenge enroute his way to the title but he made it matter when it was most needed, racing away with the match and the title before bursting in tears and taking the opportunity to thank his supportive fans.
