Irrfan Khan pulls out of Amazon series citing health concerns


Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan’s continuing health concerns have prompted him to pull out of Amazon Prime Original series Gormint.

In a Facebook post released on Monday, the actor expressed his inability to continue with the project after he had already completed shoot for a couple of months.


The character and the show was one of Irrfan’s favorite among the ones that he had been working on at present and he is shattered at having to disassociate with the team of All India Backchod, with whom he had been collaborating while on this particular venture.

The Karwaan actor, however, was positive that his exit won’t affect the quality of unique satire that is expected to be dished out by the makers with this particular series, that had formerly been named as Ministry.

Irrfan had been highly thrilled by this project and obviously, having to leave the show halfway into its completion wasn’t something the talented star would have opted for, had his physical situation permitted him to. The actor is still very much excited to see the final outcome, and wishes the entire team all luck to deliver a web series that is unprecedented and different from the lot.

Vijay Subramaniam, Director and Head of Content, Amazon Prime Video, India, issued a statement expressing sadness at the actor’s exit, stressing that Khan, nevertheless, will continue to remain a part of the Amazon family.

Earlier this year, Irrfan Khan had been diagnosed with a serious case of neuroendocrine tumor and although he is on the road to recovery now, his current projects have been more or less limited. Khan, however,  has been gracing headlines for issues as diverse as his IIFA Best Actor and LIFF Icon Awards, as also for his emotional reflections on life post his illness.
