A new Assamese music video titled Pohar Kot has recently released and is thrilling music lovers with its theme and melody.
The song focusses on domestic violence as the underlying theme and the journey from the darkness of dusk to deciphering hope and light is a poignant depiction that makes up this strikingly evocative song.
“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness”. With lyrics by Pranjal Saikia, the song composed by Amritanshu Dutta has been beautifully rendered by singer Raunak Bharadwaj and the voice that reflects the pensive mood of the song lends it its reverberating strain of emotions and sentiment.
And while the lyrics are deep and steeped in meaning, once again Vishal P. Chaliha as the cinematographer wows with his terrific camera work and vision. The video is very much dark all throughout, as is the essence of the song that only brings forth a ray of hope in the climax. Chaliha captures this spirit throughout the length of the song, altering between innate depictions and lucid transitions from the void to a realm of hope.

Driving out the darkness of life, it is the human soul itself that is the bearer of all hope, transient yet representing a yearning that refuses to die away. Indeed, it is the fetish of life, an inclination towards light in even the darkest of crises that drives Pohar Kot as an acceptance of the realities of life in a way that the light at the end of the tunnel is never forgotten. To overlook the dark in quest of the greater good of the ray of hope is what this newest offering is all about.
