Bollywood’s magnum opus Thugs of Hindostan is well on its way to breaking records.
The multi starrer released on November 8 amidst all the hype and frenzy and despite promising to deliver ‘a never-seen-before cinematic experience on the big screen’, the film mostly was met with disappointment with mainly negative critic reviews and very poor ratings.

However, due to pre- release bookings and also the hype surrounding its release, Thugs of Hindostan managed to amass close to 50 crore rupees on the opening day itself. As the best ever Diwali release in the last 40 years, the movie managed to rule over the box office even after scathing criticisms of falling flat even on the back of a stellar star cast.

Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh, Thugs of Hindostan earned the distinction of recording recorded the highest single-day sales in history with its first day collections. Surpassing Salman Khan’s 2015 Diwali release Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and another magnum opus Bahubali – The Conclusion, Thugs of Hindostan is cashing in on being the only Diwali release as well as the biggest window available for a Bollywood film as there are no other releases scheduled around it. Also with ticket prices spiked up in an unprecedented move, Thugs of Hindostan is all set to cross the 100 crore mark over the weekend.
