Celebrated designer Wendell Rodricks passes away at 59

Ace fashion designer Wendell Rodricks breathed his last on 12th February, 2020 at his Goa home purportedly due to a prolonged illness. Rodricks was 59 at the time of his demise.

Known for his minimalism in fashion as well as for his active support to environmental and LGBTQ causes, himself being an openly gay man, Rodricks’ death however still remains under investigation by the Goa Police. A Padma Shri awardee, Rodricks had been instrumental in moulding the careers of quite a few Bollywood stars including Malaika Arora, Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma among others.

The Goan heritage found prominent presence in his Rodrick’s many works which he perpetuated under the fashion brand that he started in 1989. After retirement from his label in 2016, Wendell Rodricks continued to further his fashion pursuits along the route less traveled by, with his latest thrust on building India’s first ever costume museum, the Moda Goa Museum on which he had been working till death.
